Printmaking is an art-form where the work is created by mechanical, chemical, industrial and artistic processes. Printmaking has been in use since the 5th century has evolved alongside advances in technology. It is this adaptive quality of printmaking that makes it one of the most exciting practices in art. For a complete history of Printmaking click here. An inherent quality of printmaking is it allows for the creation of an edition which is a set number of identical multiples of an artwork.
I prefer to work with more immediate processes in creating my prints. Techniques such as relief print, monotype, drypoint, and woodcut are ones that I feel, balance the input of the image and the qualities of that process.
